Organization Mission:

The NJ Academy of Science (NJAS) was founded in 1954, is affiliated with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and is a member of the National Association of Academies of Science. The NJ Academy of Science (NJAS) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and promote the advancement of STEM-related fields among the NJ scientific community. The organization is 100% funded by its membership dues, publications, fundraisers, and private donations.

Goal:

The goal of “NJ at the STEM front” seminar series is to engage, inspire, and educate  the NJ Community about important scientific topics that are influencing NJ and our world. Most importantly we would like to inspire the youth, undergraduate and graduate students to pursue STEM degrees and careers and ultimately advance NJAS mission and vision.

3 main Objectives:

Increasing awareness of STEM fields and careers

Increasing participants’ beliefs about their ability to succeed in STEM

Increasing participants’ sense of STEM identity

These objectives are accomplished through STEM networking opportunities by developing interactions with NJ residents, political leaders, science professionals,  faculty and students.
